Tunisia receives highest number of OIC tourists in North Africa

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries of Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia have been struggling to increase their tourist arrivals amid security concerns and economic instability since the Arab Spring erupted across the region in 2011.
Tourist arrivals from other OIC countries have largely remained steady for Morocco and Algeria but growth has been volatile for Egypt and Tunisia.
Egypt's OIC arrivals plunged in 2013 (-21 percent) and 2014 (-7.9 percent) but grew around 6.4 percent in 2015.
Tunisia has experienced the reverse, welcoming more OIC tourists in 2013 (+13.6 percent) then seeing a drop in 2014 (-3.7 percent) and 2015 (-10.9 percent).
2016 figures are not yet available from the Statistical, Economic, and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC).
